Jason Adams Lecture

I went to the Jason Adams lecture this past Wednesday in the Art School auditorium. Jason graduated from The University of Akron in 1997 and was a metal smith major and a photography minor. Today he is a successful jewelry designer. Jason showed slides of pieces he has made in the past and present alongside slides of pieces he was inspired by. Most of the inspiration pieces were broaches, rings, necklaces, and arts and crafts. A lot of his pieces of work related to figuring out his sexuality. He incorporated some of his photography into his metals pieces, mainly self imagery. He also made a book of photography to illustrate the story of his friend living with aids. Most of his current work is jewelry inspired by past and present genres of fashion. His pieces are very gaudy and oversized. He was a very interesting person and and will have a lot of success as a jewelry designer.
