Portfolio Results

I passed my review! I just have to make a few changes for the Senior Show. I have to reprint my resume because the ink is rubbing off of the paper for some reason. I also have to reprint two pieces in my port. because they printed a little too dark. I am so relieved! Now I can concentrate on all of my other classes since it is basically out of the way.

Senior Portfolio Review

Finally turned in my portfolio, resume, and process book yesterday. I think I passed, but I guess I'll have to wait and see Wednesday. My process book came out really cool. I printed all of my pages on card stock and then bound them all together myself and make a cover for the book as well. The cover was two toned metallic and looked really nice. I am glad it is over with, just can't wait to get it back so I can start the job search for when I graduate in May.

Portfolio

Trying to finish up my portfolio. It is due on Monday the 29th. I am almost done, I really just need to work on my process book. I think that most of my work turned out pretty well, I am proud of it. I need to make finishing touches on some projects and apply them all on the same grid structure for the portfolio. I can't wait until after Monday.

Packaging Project

I turned in my packaging project yesterday.. finally.
We were assigned to create a company that was selling set of spa products for men and women. We had to create the company name, their logo/ identity, make the packaging for the products (carton boxes as well as a rigid box to hold all of the products), and the actual labels to go on the products themselves. We then had to make up a pdf presentation, and three presentation boards as well. Among the three boards, one had to show my branding process, another showed my packaging design process, and the last board was photographs of my final products and their packaging. I think it turned out pretty well, I was really happy with it.

Andy Warhol Museum

I went to the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh today. It was pretty interesting, and had a lot of things I didn't expect to see. There were seven floors of exhibits and a movie theater in the museum as well. I obviously saw a lot of his screen prints, which of course really really awesome. He had a lot of photography pieces there too. There was a whole wall of pictures that were suicides. Some were pretty gruesome, this exhibit was one I didn't expect. I really liked the room of silver balloons that had a ballet recital playing on the wall. I also liked all of his "myth" prints. Those were pretty cool because they were easily recognizable characters, but made in his fashion.

Jason Adams Lecture

I went to the Jason Adams lecture this past Wednesday in the Art School auditorium. Jason graduated from The University of Akron in 1997 and was a metal smith major and a photography minor. Today he is a successful jewelry designer. Jason showed slides of pieces he has made in the past and present alongside slides of pieces he was inspired by. Most of the inspiration pieces were broaches, rings, necklaces, and arts and crafts. A lot of his pieces of work related to figuring out his sexuality. He incorporated some of his photography into his metals pieces, mainly self imagery. He also made a book of photography to illustrate the story of his friend living with aids. Most of his current work is jewelry inspired by past and present genres of fashion. His pieces are very gaudy and oversized. He was a very interesting person and and will have a lot of success as a jewelry designer.
